Meeting House cafe opens in South Perry District

South Perry District residents now have a new neighborhood cafe in which to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.

The Meeting House opened Monday at 1801 E. 11th Ave., two blocks east of Perry Street Brewing.

“We want to be a neighborhood gathering place, or as people sometimes call it – their third place,” said Nina Booth-Metzger, operations manager of the Meeting House. “We would like to hopefully be a place where people can work, hang out, enjoy the space and drink coffee.”

The Meeting House features organic coffee from Roast House and a light menu with soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries. It’s also one of a few cafes in Spokane that offers Rishi organic tea.

The cafe also has a meeting room for patrons to use free of charge and is adding outdoor seating and a dog-friendly patio.

Booth-Metzger said the neighborhood has been receptive to the cafe in its first week of business.

“We’ve had an interesting mix of the neighborhood come in so far,” she said. “We’ve had some regulars already, so that is a big plus.”

Operating hours for the Meeting House are 7 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.

Bob Boyce and Rob Brewster of InterUrban Developments LLC redeveloped the historic building, which was a neighborhood grocery store for more than 50 years before shuttering in 1974. The building also served as a private residence for several decades.

InterUrban Developments has future plans to open additional Meeting House locations throughout Spokane.
