Biscuit Wizard wants to know: what’s your favorite street food?

Biscuit Wizard is revamping its menu.

The downtown walk-up counter in the Saranac Commons building initially specialized – as its name suggests – in biscuit sandwiches. Last February, it streamlined its biscuit offerings and beefed up its burger selection.

Now, chef and owner Jeremy Hansen plans to emphasize “street food,” with 10 percent of each sale going to his 509 Cooks nonprofit, according to his recent Facebook post about the transition.

The post also asked followers for suggestions: “What’s your favorite street food? Tell me what you want, and if it makes the menu I’ll name it after you.”

So far, suggestions include everything from grilled cheese with tomato and bacon to arepas, Mexican street corn, pupusas, shawarma, bao buns, satay, falafel, corn dogs, kebabs and more.

Biscuit Wizard opened in July 2017. It’s just one of several local eateries from Hansen and his wife, Kate.

Together, they own and operate Common Crumb Artisan Bakery (also located in Saranac Commons), Inland Pacific Kitchen and Hogwash Whiskey Den (both located in the old Washington Cracker Co. building), and Sante Restaurant and Charcuterie, which is slated to close as early as March.

The Hansens plan to turn that space into a saloon called Smoke & Mirrors, featuring draft beer, craft cocktails and approachable but high-quality hand-helds as well as charcuterie.

Meantime, find Biscuit Wizard at 19 W. Main Ave. Call (509) 290-5927.
