Public workshop set to discuss Avista sale

From staff reports

A public workshop on Avista’s proposed sale to Hydro One of Toronto takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Coeur d’Alene at the Midtown Meeting Center, 1505 N. Fifth St.

An incorrect date was listed in an item in Friday’s paper.

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission’s staff will give a presentation on the commission’s role when a regulated utility asks for permission to be sold. No public comment will be taken – that will occur at a series of public hearings yet to be scheduled – but staff will answer questions.

The commission will analyze the proposed sale to determine whether it is in the interest of the state’s residents. The companies have asked for a decision by mid-August. Regulatory agencies in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Alaska must approve the sale.
