SAN JOSE, Calif. – Gonzaga guard Nigel Williams-Goss doesn’t cut Nigel Williams-Goss much slack.

The Zags’ leading scorer has been in an offensive slump during the NCAA Tournament, but he had 23 points in GU’s 83-59 victory over Xavier on Saturday.

“I’m still not at my best,” Williams-Goss said. “I missed some bunnies, some really easy shots, missed three free throws.

“I still really haven’t found my rhythm offensively, but my whole focus was getting us to Phoenix (for the Final Four).”

Williams-Goss made 7 of 19 shots from the field. He hit four 3-pointers and was 5 of 8 at the free-throw line. He joined Jordan Mathews and most outstanding player Johnathan Williams on the All-West Region team.

“I think that’s a good feeling to be going to Phoenix and still haven’t really played my best basketball,” Williams-Goss said. “It’s just a credit to the guys in the locker room.”
