Area boys: Ryan Moffet scores 36 points and Odessa-Harrington tops Wellpinit

Ryan Moffet led Odessa-Harrington (12-7, 10-4) with 36 points to help his team to a 76-69 victory over visiting Wellpinit (15-4, 10-4) on Friday to push the Titans into second place in the Northeast 1B South, with Wellpinit dropping into third place.

Camden Weber scored 25 points for Odessa-Harrington, which used a 22-10 fourth quarter to pull away.

Brandon Flett led Wellpinit with 19 point and Cedric Bowen added 17 points.

Odessa-Harrington shot 25 of 33 on free throws, while John DeWulf brought in some key rebounds.

As the fourth quarter started, Wellpinit’s two key starters, Brandon Flett and Cedric Bowen, both fouled out.

Columbia 51, Valley Christian 36: Riley McLain scored 26 points with 10 rebounds and the Lions (3-17) advanced to the 1B district playoffs as the fourth seed, beating the Panthers (1-20) 51-36 on Friday.

Columbia jumped out early with an 18-4 first quarter, then opened up a close game with an 18-11 run in the fourth quarter.

Darrin Bloomquist added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Valley Christian was paced by Adam Bruno with 14 points.

Southeast 1B

Waitsburg 59, Pomeroy 55: Kyle Gradwohl scored 18 points and Waitsburg (12-4, 8-3), ranked ninth in state 1B, knocked off visiting Pomeroy (16-2, 12-1).

Pomeroy entered play having already clinched the league, ranked seventh in state 1B and previously undefeated in league.

Jacob Dunn added 14 points for Waitsburg, which used a 21-11 third-quarter run to seize the momentum, then held on down the stretch. Waitsburg can finish second in league with a win over St. John-Endicott on Saturday.

Jake Tewalt led Pomeroy with 17 points and Ryan Wolf added 10.

Oakesdale 67, St. John-Endicott 59: Matt Hockett led the visiting Nighthawks (8-11, 5-8) with 23 points in a victory over the Eagles (3-16, 1-12).

Cal Gregory scored 16 points for Oakesdale, while Kieron Anderson added 11 points and Evan Henning had 10. Oakesdale made 19 of 26 on free throws and used a 20-14 fourth-quarter run to pull away. The Nighthawks finished sixth in league play.

Adam Blakeley led St. John-Endicott with 18 points, while Cooper Lundberg and Griffin Parrish added 15 points apiece.

Intermountain

Timberlake 61, Bonners Ferry 30: Jacob James led the Tigers (8-5, 3-1) with 13 points to help his team to a victory over the visiting Badgers (4-9, 1-9).

Jordan Hardy scored 10 points for Timberlake, which led 29-13 at halftime, then put up a 21-12 third quarter. The Tigers are in second in the league.

Brady Batemen led Bonners Ferry with 12 points. The Badgers sit in fourth place in the league.
