Glenn Johnson has been named a recipient of Washington State University Alumni Association’s Honorary Alumnus Award for his service to the university. Johnson currently serves as the mayor of Pullman and as professor emeritus in WSU’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.

Finance

Mountain West Bank has hired Ben Sharpe as a mortgage loan originator at the Spokane Valley Financial Center. Sharpe has more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage industry.

Government

The city of Spokane has hired Lisa Key as the planning director. Key has more than 30 years of planning experience including experience with the city of Hayden and as the hearing examiner in Kootenai County.

Spokane County District Court has named John Witter as court administrator. Witter was previously Clerk of the Court for nine years and has been with District Court for 21 years.

The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce has named Chuck Hafner as a recipient of the Harry E. Nelson Citizen of the Year award for his service to the local community. Hafner is a member of the Spokane Valley City Council.

Nonprofit

The El Katif Shrine has named John Robertson as potentate for 2016. Robertson has been a Shriner for 12 years.
