Obituary: Gilson, Karen Fay Lund

Age 70

GILSON, Karen Fay Lund Karen passed away on September 16, 2014 at her home on Spotted Road near Deer Park.

At the time of her passing she was being attended to by her husband, Loren Gilson.

She had been under Hospice care since the middle of May.

Hers was a long and valiant battle with health issues.

She faced them with courage and a never fading love of her Savior.

Karen was born on July 5, 1944 in Council, Idaho to George and Almira Lund.

Early in her life her family moved to Lewiston, ID where she attended school until her graduation from Lewiston High School.

She was a student at Lewis Clark State College until her marriage to Loren on June 15, 1965 in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Karen was active in her church throughout her life, serving in a variety of church callings.

She especially loved the youth and could be found surrounded by young people who sought her out for guidance, counsel and unconditional love.

In her later years when her health prevented her from participation in church activities away from her home she continued to serve and helped several families on their path to solid financial freedom as she taught them to organize and implement responsible budgets.

She also took it upon herself to send out numerous cards, some in recognition of a birthday and many just because “The Lord told me that person needed a card.”

Karen was a devoted wife and mother, not only to her own children, but also to many honorary sons and daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Loren in their home near Deer Park, Washington.

Her daughter Jenni Herndon lives in Spokane Valley and her son, Jeffery lives in Liberty Lake, WA.

She was the loving grandmother to six.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 11:00 at the Riverside Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 34221 N. Newport Hwy, Chattaroy, WA with Bishop Joel Stapf presiding.

Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation service.
