Fire District 2 (Fairfield) – The district is looking for a new maintenance man among its current employees. Applications for new firefighters were reviewed. Commissioners discussed upcoming truck maintenance needs. (Source: Chief Adam Brannon)

Fire District 13 (Newman Lake) – The district’s Standard Operational Guidelines manual has been updated. The budget and short-range plans were discussed. Commissioners also discussed annexing additional property into the district. The district has had 77 calls so far this year, an increase over this time last year. (Source: Secretary Gwyneth Cadwell)

Fairfield City Council – The town engineer presented two proposals for a water-line replacement project and a public hearing was held on the issue. Council members voted to apply for a $198,730 Community Development Block Grant to fund the project. The 2008 budget was discussed; a budget workshop open to the public will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at City Hall. There will be a public hearing on the budget during the Nov. 6 meeting. The Fairfield Cemetery Board is looking for a maintenance person and a sexton. A request to vacate a portion of Spokane Street was denied. (Source: Town Clerk Shelly Wood)
