Two film-savvy American guys have recorded more than 30 weekly podcasts devoted entirely to movies and the film industry. Since we’re in the midst of the summer blockbuster season, this is an easy recommendation.

You can probably find 10 different podcasts focused on movies. This one tends to be one of the most consistent in offering good information with a touch of fun.

The two hosts are Stephen Keller and Samuel Stoddard, and they do a fine job of handing out information and offering various opinions on the best and worst movies of the past 50 years. They also maintain an active community blog at the allmovietalk.com site.

Each show includes some standing features: a list of “six best” films in some genre, chosen by Stoddard and Keller.

Another regular feature is a movie trivia question. The latest question is: What popular ‘80s high school movie featured characters whose earlier career was as an improvisational comedy act?

Impressively, the two guys typically run each podcast a full hour.

Podcast content: Plenty of information and a minimum of silliness.

Host temperament: Smart.

Hipness factor: Enough, but doesn’t try too hard.

Trivia question answer: “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” made in 1989. You’ll have to listen to Episode 35 of Allmovietalk to understand the answer.
