The Eastern Washington women’s basketball team was able to end its six-game losing streak with Sunday’s 74-56 Big Sky Conference win over Sacramento State in Cheney.

Freshman Nicole Scott led the Eagles (7-14, 2-6) with a game-high 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field.

EWU also received 14 points from Phynique Allen and 10 from Joanna Chadd on a night when the Eagles as a team shot 31-of-56 (55.4 percent) from the floor.

Kim Sheehy scored 17 points for the Hornets (3-17, 1-5).

•Washington State took a 33-24 lead heading into the second half, but couldn’t hold on in a 73-70 Pac-10 loss to UCLA at Los Angeles.

Lindsey Pluimer had a monster game for the Bruins (12-11, 6-5), scoring a game-high 18 while hauling in 13 rebounds for the double-double. Shania Zaidi and Tierra Henderson scored 14 and 10, respectively.

Marisa Stotler paced the Cougars (5-16, 1-10) with 15 points and six rebounds. Colleen Betteridge contributed with 13 points.

•Shay Murphy scored a game-high 25 points, including 15 in the first-half, to lead USC past Washington 78-58 in Pac-10 action at Los Angeles.

Cameo Hicks and Jill Bell scored 13 points apiece for the Huskies (13-9, 6-5).

The Women of Troy (13-8, 7-4) forced UW into 19 turnovers.

Junior hockey

Spokane gave up three third-period goals to the Nelson Leafs in a 6-3 KIJHL loss at Eagles-Ice-Arena.

Johnny Clark scored two goals for the Braves (24-16-4).
