Top 25 WOMEN: Even without Parker, Lady Vols still get the win

Fourth-ranked Tennessee got a glimpse of life without Candace Parker on Thursday, when Sidney Spencer scored 18 points and Shannon Bobbitt added 13 in the Lady Vols’ 73-44 victory over Mississippi State in Knoxville, Tenn.

Team officials said Parker did not play because she was sick.

(1) Duke 65, North Carolina State 51: At Raleigh, N.C., freshman Brittany Mitch scored 10 points that helped the Blue Devils (19-0, 5-0 ACC) beat the Wolfpack (13-6, 2-2).

(2) North Carolina 78, Georgia Tech 31: At Chapel Hill, N.C., reserve Alex Miller scored 15 points and Ivory Latta added 14 and the Tar Heels (21-0, 5-0 ACC) held the Yellow Jackets (11-7, 2-3), to a school-record lowest score.

(5) Ohio State 74, Wisconsin 51: At Madison, Wis., Jessica Davenport scored 16 points and Brandie Hoskins had 15, leading the Buckeyes (16-1, 5-0 Big Ten) to a victory over the Badgers (13-6, 2-4).

(8) LSU 76, Kentucky 58: At Baton Rouge, La., Sylvia Fowles scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and the Lady Tigers (17-2, 3-1 SEC) beat the Wildcats (13-6, 2-2) for their 40th consecutive victory at home.

(9) Stanford 70, Oregon 48: At Stanford, Calif., Cissy Pierce scored a career-high 14 points and the Cardinal (15-3, 8-0 Pac-10) defeated the Ducks (10-7, 2-5).

(10) Arizona St. 92, UCLA 52: Danielle Orsillo scored 16 points to lead five Arizona State players in double figures and the Sun Devils (17-2, 7-1 Pac-10) routed the Bruins (9-11, 3-5). Aubree Johnson (Post Falls) scored 15 and Briann January (Lewis and Clark High) 10 for ASU.

(11) George Washington 61, Rhode Island 45: At Washington, Kimberly Beck scored 17 points and the Colonials (15-2, 4-0 Atlantic 10) beat the Rams (4-14, 2-2).

(12) Purdue 73, Northwestern 41: At Evanston, Ill., Fahkara Malone scored 13 points and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton added 12 to lead the Boilermakers (17-3, 6-0 Big Ten) to a victory over the Wildcats (6-13, 0-6).

(16) Georgia 83, (14) Vanderbilt 71: At Athens, Ga., Ashley Houts scored a career-high 21 points and the Bulldogs (15-4, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) beat the Commodores (16-3, 3-2).

(17) Texas A&M 74, Colorado 58: At College Station, Texas, Takia Starks, A’Quonesia Franklin and La Toya Micheaux scored 13 points apiece to lead the Aggies (13-3, 3-1 Big 12) over the Buffaloes (8-8, 2-2).

(20) Middle Tennessee 82, Arkansas St. 54: At Murfreesboro, Tenn., Chrissy Givens scored 27 points to lead the Lady Raiders (16-3, 7-0 Sun Belt Conference) to a win over the Indians (13-6, 7-2).

(21) California 63, Oregon State 57: At Berkley, Calif., Ashley Walker scored 23 points to lead the Bears (14-4, 5-3 Pac-10) past the Beavers (7-9, 2-5).

Iowa State 67, (22) Texas 56: At Ames, Iowa, Lyndsey Medders scored 23 points to lead the Cyclones (14-4, 2-3 Big 12) past the Longhorns (13-5, 2-2).

(23) Michigan St. 66, Michigan 48: At Ann Arbor, Mich., Victoria Lucas-Perry scored 23 to lead the Spartans (14-4, 5-1 Big Ten) past the Wolverines (8-12, 1-6).

(24) Mississippi 76, South Carolina 57: At Oxford, Miss., Ashley Awkward scored 22 points and the Rebels (16-4 overall, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) beat the Gamecocks (11-8, 1-3).
