AquaSox stomp Indians

EVERETT – One error, four consecutive walks, and two hits equated to a five-run second inning for Everett in its 11-3 win over Spokane in Northwest League action on Monday evening in front of 2,370 in attendance.

Kevin Reynolds led the offensive charge for the AquaSox (20-22), going 2 for 5 with four RBIs. Also contributing on offense was Jair Fernandez who added two hits and three RBIs, and Ogui Diaz who had a pair of hits and RBIs.

Indians’ (15-27) starter Mike Wagner came into the game with 41 strikeouts and seven walks in his previous 34 2/3 innings, but walked six, and gave up three earned runs while striking out one in 2 2/3 innings of work.

The second inning began with Everett’s Joseph White reaching on a fielding error by Indians first baseman Christopher Davis. After getting one out, Wagner proceeded to walk four AquaSox batters, which was followed up by two more hits and four more runs.

Everett starter Steve Uhlmansiek picked up his third win of the season, giving up two hits and a pair of walks, while striking out three in five innings of shutout work.

Spokane didn’t have a runner reach second base until the eighth, and scored a pair of runs. Craig Gentry and Jay Heafner recorded RBIs for the Indians.
