A sports marketing firm announced today that former Gonzaga University basketball star Dan Dickau, currently playing for the New Orleans Hornets of the NBA, will hold a celebrity exhibition basketball game in July involving other NBA players and former Gonzaga players.

A press release from Northwest Sports & Entertainment Inc. said the 1st Annual “Dan Dickau Charity Classic” will be held Friday, July 29 at 7 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center at Gonzaga. The exhibition will benefit Coaches vs. Cancer and other local Spokane Charities.

According to the press release, NBA players slated for the exhibition include Seattle Sonics guard Luke Ridnour and Indiana Pacers guard Fred Jones (both former University of Oregon players), and J.R. Smith, Dickau’s rookie teammate with the Hornets.

Former Gonzaga basketball players involved in the exhibition may include Blake Stepp and Casey Calvary. Others will be confirmed later this spring and announced, and players are subject to change if a conflict arises, the press release said.

“It is anticipated that this classic will also include several opportunities to meet and greet these great players in other charity events surrounding the game,” the press release said.

Tickets will go on sale this spring.
