Liberty Lake council OKs hiring of expert to hold park workshops

From staff reports

The Liberty Lake City Council approved hiring a landscape architect to hold community workshops to determine what local citizens want in their parks.

Michael Terrell will conduct a series of four meetings to gather input that will help city officials decide things like whether a new 14-acre park in the upcoming Rocky Hill development should have baseball diamonds, tennis courts and other recreational offerings.

Sessions will cover golf courses, parks of varying sizes, natural areas and trails, and they will help determine where dollars are spent.

The council approved just under $10,000 to pay for the sessions, which will gather information from people living in the city and in areas that border Spokane Valley and the Idaho state line.

A specific timetable hasn’t been set, but meetings will begin soon, with a final report issued by late fall.

In other council action Tuesday, Bridgette Brassington was sworn in as a member of the library’s board of trustees. Brassington’s resume includes management consulting, with clients ranging from Boeing to AT&T Wireless.
