Spokane Officer Fired For Hindering Arrest

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane patrolman has been fired for lying to fellow officers and hindering their efforts to arrest a woman.

Calling the dismissal “an unfortunate situation,” Police Chief Terry Mangan took the action Wednesday afternoon after meeting with the patrolman, Marcus Meehan.

Mangan said he reviewed evidence compiled by internal investigators and talked to prosecutors.

Meehan, 31, faces criminal charges of obstructing an officer and making false statements in a police report.

The charges stem from incidents earlier this summer involving an unnamed woman.

Meehan didn’t tell other officers that the woman had given them a false name, the Police Department said in a prepared statement released Thursday. , DataTimes
