Murder Suspect Found Dead

From Staff And Wire Reports

Sheriff’s deputies discovered the body of an Okanogan man early Wednesday who killed himself after he apparently fatally shot his girlfriend.

Okanogan County deputies found the body of 40-year-old Charles C. Jackson outside an abandoned cabin about a mile from his home, Sheriff James Weed said.

Jackson was being sought in the death of Melody Anne Moses, 28. Relatives found Moses dead Monday at the home she shared with Jackson. A rifle was left inside the home.

A neighbor spotted Jackson’s pickup parked near an abandoned cabin about a mile from his Okanogan home. At 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, deputies discovered Jackson’s body outside the cabin.

He died of a gunshot wound to the head. Deputies also found a rifle at the scene.

Weed said Jackson had recently expressed suicidal thoughts to his ex-wife. Jackson and Moses were splitting up.

Jackson had a history of domestic violence with his ex-wife, but no reported incidents with Moses.<
