Drama Fest Features Students From Sfcc

Spokane Falls Community College opens its 14th Annual Original Drama Festival on Friday.

The festival includes three new plays written, directed and acted by SFCC students.

They are: “The Student Body President,” an anonymously written play about teen suicide; “The Tramp in the Theater,” written and directed by Aric Cook, a broad, physical comedy; and “Sins of the Leopard,” written and directed by Stacy King, a “Tales from the Crypt”-like tale.

Audience members will vote on their favorite, and the winning playwright gets a $300 prize. The festival runs Friday and Saturday and continues May 17-18 in the SFCC Playhouse. All shows are at 8 p.m.

Admission is free.

‘Motherhood: The Second Oldest Profession’

The Lake City Playhouse in Coeur d’Alene opens a reader’s-theater presentation with a motherly theme tonight, continuing Friday and Saturday.

The show will feature readings and poems from a variety of authors, including the late Erma Bombeck and others.

Matt Smith will accompany on classical guitar.

This show is a benefit for the playhouse, and a $10 minimum donation is requested. All performances are at 8 p.m.

Call (208) 667-1323. The theater is at 14th and Garden in Coeur d’Alene.
