Feed Store Is Willing To Deliver The Goods

Though just a month old, one new Valley business is already going straight to the dogs.

Bart and Sons Feed & Supply stocks dog and cat food, as well as feed for birds and livestock. They’ve added a new spin, though - they deliver.

Bart Bertholic runs the business from his family farm. The farm produces blueberries and raspberries during the summer, but Bertholic said that just wasn’t enough.

He was driving home one day, trying to come up with another way to use his 31 acres. When he arrived, he discussed ideas with wife Kathie and their eight children.

The family consensus was Bart and Sons, a venture they think will earn them more than just chicken feed.

“I know for a fact that when I was always driving to buy feed, I got tired of it,” Bertholic said. “I knew others must be tired of it, too.”

They carry all kinds of feed. “It’s not just for dogs and cats, but for all four-legged critters,” Bertholic said. He’s not kidding. The business also carries chow for horses, cows, llamas, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits - well, you get the idea.

The company also deals in farm supplies like fencing, buckets, etc. The farm and the Bart and Sons retail space are at 10318 N. Morrison Road.

Farm appeal aside, small-size delivery orders placed by pet owners are an important part of the business.

“It ranges from one person buying a bag of cat food to big orders. People spend anywhere from $10 to $200,” Bertholic said. For more information, call 922-2344.

Telect on the Net

Telect, a Liberty Lake company, has just set up a site on the Internet’s World Wide Web.

The company designs and manufactures cable assemblies for technological and industrial uses.

Telect’s new Internet connection allows customers and sales staff to connect with the company via computer and browse through product descriptions and post information requests.

The service is already up and running, but is expanding all the time, spokeswoman Elinor Foltz said.

“Eventually, we’ll be able to provide on-line support and a limited catalog,” Foltz said.

Company execs said cyberspace waves are already crashing in on business shores here.

“To remain competitive in the next five years, you’ve got to start surfing now,” said Wayne Williams, president of Telect.

The company’s Internet site address is http://www.telect.com. The company also accepts product information requests via electronic mail at getinfo@telect.com. Feedback to the company president can be sent to waynew@telect.com.
