Graduation Looking Forward And Looking Back, This Year’s Graduating Classes Have Reached A Milestone In Their Lives

For graduating seniors, the school year’s end is loaded with meaning.

Seniors will say goodbye to old friends and hello to new places, people and experiences.

They’ll trek across Europe for the summer and head to places such as Boston, Reno and Pullman to start college in the fall. They’ll go to work, marry, start families.

In an attempt to capture the spirit of graduation while looking back at an exciting school year, the Valley Voice presents a special section dedicated to graduation.

Inside, you’ll find:

A celebration of one the top Spokane Valley high school classes in years, with an extraordinary number of valedictorians.

The story of a young woman whose determination and strength allowed her to succeed despite a tough obstacle.

A thoughtful essay by Heather Whinnen, the University High School senior pictured here, who reflects on her high school years and looks to the future.

A look back in time, through the eyes of three generations of a Valley family, all of whom have graduated from the same high school.

Information about commencement ceremonies for all of the Valley high schools - and the name of every student graduating this year from a Valley high school.
