Chiefs Make Arena Debut Sept. 30

The Spokane Chiefs’ first game in the new Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena is scheduled for Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. against the Western Hockey League rival Tri-Cities Americans.

The Saturday night game is among 36 regular-season home games at the Arena, which replaced the old Spokane Coliseum.

The Chiefs’ schedule, released Thursday, shows Spokane opening the 1995-96 season Sept. 23 at Tri-Cities, followed by a Sept. 27 game at Kelowna.

Ticket packages are available at the Chiefs’ business office, which will be moved to the new arena in mid-August. Until then, tickets can be purchased at Suite 104 of The Park Center Building, N9089 Howard.

Info: 328-0450.

The Chiefs are also selling tickets for the Sept. 17 exhibition between the San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League. The exhibition is the first sports event scheduled for the new arena.
