Anderson Pitches No-Hitter

Kanyon Anderson, a soccer player at Cheney High School with no high school baseball experience, pitched a no-hitter as Global Federal Credit Union defeated PAC 9-0. He allowed one run in four innings in the second game as GFCU edged PAC 2-1 at Al K. Jackson Field.

In other action, Mike Thomas went 3 for 4 as Scott’s Custom Homes beat Olympic Sports 10-3.

Joe Baune was 5 for 5 with three RBIs as Chapter Eleven/Longhorn Barbecue walloped Pullman 22-14. M&L Construction also beat Pullman 13-12. M&L followed that with a 7-2 victory against Spokane Federal Credit Union.

Todd Weger and Jeremy Lukens homered to lead JobQuest over North Stars 8-7 before the North Stars rallied to win the nightcap 7-6.

At Colville, Shawn Carlson struck out five as Hillyard beat K.C. Stars 7-2 in the second game of a doubleheader. K.C. won the opener 12-7.

Pony League Baseball

Cole Young threw a six-hitter in a losing effort as Central Seattle defeated Spokane Athletic Supply 4-1 at the Pony League State Tournament in Bellevue.

Basketball

Mike Homer scored 31 points to lead the Spokane Stars past the Kansas City Rebels 92-79 at the U-17 AAU Nationals in Winston-Salem, N.C.

At the Girls U-13 AAU Nationals in Amarillo, Texas, the Oklahoma Magic beat the Spokane Stars 74-38.

Auto racing

Spokane’s Rick Schultz finished 12th at Saturday’s NASCAR REBCO Northwest Tour ‘Franks Chevroler 125’ at the Yakima Speedway.
