It’s our Ridiculous Moments in History Photo Caption Contest.

Here’s all you have to do to enter: Locate the picture in today’s column. Study it. Then tell us, in writing, what the photographer might have been saying at the moment this bizarre scene was captured in 1946.

Slice answers: Jennifer Searson said parking on sidewalks and not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks are examples of things that are social taboos elsewhere but not in Spokane.

Other behaviors and practices that readers said are inexplicably accepted around here included chewing food in a restaurant with your mouth open, allowing noxious weeds to flourish, picking one’s nose while driving, using objects other than Q-Tips to clean ears, showing up at weddings dressed for a beach party, having streets dead-end and then pick up again far away, failing to respond to invitations or phone messages, and middle-aged men gawking at teenage girls.

Hmmmm. Something tells us the Spokane area doesn’t have a monopoly on most of those.
