Mcaninch Flattens Pirates With 2 Hrs

Catcher John McAninch belted two homers Friday as the Lewis-Clark State Warriors beat the visiting Whitworth Pirates 6-3 in a non-league men’s baseball game.

The Pirates (6-6-1) scored two runs in the top of the first, but the Warriors (27-5) countered with three runs in the third and never faltered.

Matt Wagner (6-0) recorded the win, striking out eight, while Billy Wark (2-2) took the loss.

McAninch was 2 for 3 with five RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the first, a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth.

Pirate Don O’Neal went 4 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs.
