Idaho officials work to restore driver’s license services

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Transportation Department officials say they are working on fully restoring driver's license services two weeks after computer outages left hundreds of residents unable to renew licenses. The Post Register reports a recent software update to the department's computer systems caused driver's license services to shut down across the state. The computer troubles peaked on Wednesday at the Idaho Falls Division of Motor Vehicles when the facility was only able to process 11 license-related transactions. It typically handles between 100 and 200 transactions on any given day. Department officials say the situation is under control, and the issue was at the state level. Spokesman Vince Trimboli says they want people to understand that the problem was not the responsibility of workers in the county offices that deliver the services.
